Hidden Sparkplugs

I have a 97' olds shillouette. I would like to know if it is possible for me to get at and change the three plugs on the firewall side of the engine? NF

Depends on whether or not you're double or triple jointed!

Just kidding.

They can be tough. Sometimes it's easier to put the vehicle on a hoist and go after them from underneath, but if you're patient and have the correct tools (like a spark plug scoket that swivels) you might be able to do it. Take a look and see if you can reach around the back and touch the plugs and that should give you an idea if it's possible.

On some of the GM V-6s you can disconnect the engine strut links (dogbones) and roll the engine forward to get at the plugs. Once you get the engine forward you put a screwdriver or similar tool in the strut link holes and it holds the engine forward.

Take a look and get back to us if you need more help.

Matt
