power window

Have a 95 Chevy G20 van with a bad drivers side power window motor. Have all the door trim and access panel removed and can't figure how to remove the regulator and motor assembly. Have the bolts off the regulator and have attempted to remove this by sliding it to the rear of the door but it appears that the regulator channel is in the way. Does the window have to be removed? and if so how?
Any help would be appreciated

push the window up...

...and tape it over the top of the door frame to hold it there. the regulator and motor come out as an assembly and it takes some finagling to do it. don't remove any bolts from the reg/motor assembly while inside the door (if it has a spring loaded regulator, of course)

Thanks

Got it replaced. What a fun (not) job! Still have all my digits but missing a bit of blood. Thanks for the help.
