need to store car for winter

need to store car for winter. it snows here in winter and can get 20 below. 0 i realize i have to take certain precautions to winterize the engine. my question is about the exterior. it will be parked outside. should i cover the car with just a water resistance car cover. or should i cover the car with a plastic sheet as well?

Ideally you want a cover that is both water-resistant and "breathes". I would vote against plastic sheeting on the 2nd count. You don't want moisture to get trapped under whatever cover you use and be there all winter. Start with a good wax job.

Don't forget stabilizer in the gas.

i suppose car covers are not really designed to protect againt longer term winter conditions either. so you would need to put something waterproof over the car cover or not use the car cover at all. just go with a wax job.
