1999 cadillac escalade transmission
I have noticed that my transmission is leaking from were the driveshaft goes in. does that mean i need to replace the transmission??

No. Not unless the fluid level got so low that the clutches were slipping and damaged the friction plates.
There is a seal and a bushing in the tail shaft assy which need to be replaced. The drive shaft and tail shaft assy will need to be removed, then, the seal is removed, the old bushing pressed out, the new bushing pressed in, then the new seal pressed onto the tailshaft. After that, just bolt the tailshaft back onto the transmission then reinstall the drive shaft. First check the yoke on the front of the driveshaft where the seal and bushing ride on it and make sure it is not damaged. Also, make sure the driveshaft itself is not damaged causing it to be out of balance. This would cause excess wear on the bushing which will make it leak.
