alternator/water pump belt for 97 mazda protege

I'm having trouble keeping this belt on my car. I have put 3 new belts on in less than 2k miles. Once it starts squeeling, it soon breaks. I have checked the tension, applied belt dressing, and still I have this problem. Is this something common with this car? It has approx 100k miles. Any help would be welcome.
Thanks

You have an alignment issue your not seeing. Examine it very carefully looking for any pully that is not in perfect alignment or a pully of tensioner that is worn and being pulled at an angle. This will cause the belt to migrate to the side and eventually come apart/off.

Thanks for the reply. I'll have to inspect it again. Would this also cause the belt to squeel?

Thanks

It could. A bad spring tensioner could also do that.
