starting Question

I have a 1987 ford escot gt 1.9 H.O. 5 speed with apx 168k.During the past week i have found my car harder to start than normal. It usually starts immediatly but lately i have to turn it over for 5-10 seconds and it doesnt usually kick in untill i let go of the key.Any ideas what may be causing this?I was thinking along the lines of a coil or rotor button but it seems to have all of its power so im not sure! Thanks for any suggestions

If it starts when you let off the key, it could be a bad ignition module. These modules power one circuit when key is in the start position, and another in the run position. When you let off the key the engine is still turning over and power is applied to the run circuit of the module and it fires up. Can't guarantee it, but
that sounds like what is happening.
