1992 Nissan Maxima power lock problem

i have a 1992 nissan maxima, the power locks work but the passenger door will not open.

i am unable to get the door panel off with the door shut to check into it further.

i think what happened was my passenger was trying to open the door while i was unlocking it and a linkage must have broke.

any ideas on how to get at it to fix it?

can you unlock the door with the key? and enter from the exterior? Most cars have a separate rod that connects the outside lock and latch to the lock mechanism.

unfortunately i have tried that and the outside lock and handle doesnt work either.
