Changing Water Pump

Does anyone know where online I can get step by step instructions to change a water pump on a 2000 Chevrolet Venture V-6? Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Go to www.alldata.com and purchase a subscription. Alldata is the same info garages use and if you are going to have the vehicle for a while, it'll pay for itself.

It will probably be driven by the timing belt since it's a front whell drive van, which is going to be a long and somewhat complicated process.

I agree, AllData is much better then a Chilton or Haynes, but make sure you have a fast printer or a computer in the garage.

It is the easiest water pump I have ever changed in my life. I can do one in 5-10 minutes. Here's alldata's instructions.

Remove the drive belt guard.
Loosen the water pump pulley bolts.
Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement.

Remove the water pump gasket.
Clean the water pump mating surfaces.
Installation Procedure

Install the water pump gasket.
Install the water pump. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
Install the water pump bolts.
Tighten the bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).

Install the water pump pulley. Loosely install the mounting bolts.
Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement.
