96 chev trk -5.0 heater inlet +outlet hoses

I have a 96 c1500 chev trk w/ 5.0 and i cant find which hose is the inlet to the heater core. I am installing a coolant pre-heater to help start on those cold morns. I need to run the outlet of the pre-heater to the outlet of the heater core, so the per-heated coolant can go to the eng. block.
I have a hose coming from the top of the water pump. and one hose coming from the top of the intake manifold. both seem to get warm at the same time so i cant tell by feeling which hose gets hot first ...
thank you

The one from the manifold to the core would be the "hot" side. The hose going to the water pump would be the "return".

Red face thanks tow guy

i have already installed the "Y" fitting in the hot side -- do you think this will cause any probs with the eng cooling or heater core working prop.
thanks
