Nissan Stanza

The drive belt broke on my 1990 Stanza. I had another belt installed. But now the power steering doessn't work, and the car runs hot. The belt is installed properly according to the diagram in the Hayes repair manual. does anyone know what could be the problem? Thanks again.

Check to make sure all of the pulleys on your accesssories turn freely. You will need to loosen of remove the belt in order to do this. Start with the power steering pump, there's a chance it could be locked up or binding enough to be inoperative and put an extra strain on the engine leading to the overheating.

I would also double check for proper belt installation, although I can't imagine that the belt could be installed improperly enough to cause your problems.
