1993 F150 Locking Hub noisy

1993 Ford F150 4 x 4. I have never had a problem with my 4 x 4 hubs until a friend mentioned that Fords have a problem if you shift into 4WD while the rear wheels are spinning out. I did not believe him, but within 2 weeks, I inadvertently switched into 4WD when my rear tires lost traction, and yes they were spinning. The front differential did engage, but I also heard some awful sounds and was reminded of what my friend had said. Now, there is a clicking sound coming from the right locking hub when I make a left hand turn. Sound stops when I straighten the wheel or turn right. Is this an easy fix?

You need to determine if the hub is at fault could be a bad u-joint on the axle or something brake related.Hubs are an easy repair if that ends up being the problem.

All of the U-joints were replaced this summer, along with the transmission and the engine, and the 4WD servo motor. Brakes are a possibility, but the hub was my first thought only because of when the noise began.........
