Question 1996 ford festiva output shaft oil leak

looking for pic's and or how to remove the output shafts and cv's from my wifes 1996 ford festiva, they are leaking from the gearbox seal's... also how much end float and sideways movement is normal for the output shaft

Most halfshafts are removed by popping them out of the transaxle with a pry bar.You would need to remove the outer end from the knuckle first by removing the large nut on the end and disconnecting the ball joint to swing the strut out of the way.Some people remove the lower bolts from the strut however if this is done on alot of cars you will require an alignment after the repair is done.Most inner joints display about 1/4 inch play up and down when wiggled.If yours are excessive you could have damaged bearings/bushings in the trans.I would just replace the seals at this point and see what happens.
