do you remove the pins on the front brakes to remove the pads

if it is the type i think that you are talking about yes there are 2 pins one at the top of the caliper on at the bottom all you need to do is tap them out takes a hamer screwdriver and about 10 minutes
jack up the truck remove the wheel turn the wheel away from the side you are doing tap the screwdriver into the slots the pins are in and bam the caliper and pads are loose then take a large pair of channel locks to compress the caliper (make sure the cap is off the master cylender) and reverse procedure then do other side replace wheels lower truck and replace the cap before you drive make sure to pump the pedal up to take any slack out of the caliper and you should be good to go
