Did you install the old ignition lock in the replacement column or did it come with a lock and key? If so, and if it has the resistor chip in the key, you may need to take the old and new key to a locksmith and have another key cut for your new lock, but cut on a blank which matches the old key's chip.

Before you change the lock cylinder over try leaving the ignition on for 30 minutes turn off(remove the key) for 10 seconds then try to start.Let us know if this works.

Most locksmith's have a tester which "reads" the chip. By reading your old key, the locksmith knows which chip the car's security system is looking for. If it is different than the key which came with the ignition, he can cut a blank with the proper chip to fit your lock.
