Check Engine Light

Check Engine Light
I have a 95 Honda Civic Ex Coupe with 140,000 miles. Just recently my transmission went out so I went ahead and bought a transmission from Japan with about 20,000 to 30,000 miles on it. I took my car to a friend of mine who is a mechanic and he installed it for me. I also had two replace both my front axle's and being that he was there, he replaced them for me. After he was done, I picked up my car and left. The next day the check engine light came on. I called him and he told me to unplug the battery cables for awhile so the computer to reset. Instead of awhile, I left it over night. Today I drive to work, everything is ok. During lunch, I was driving and everything was ok, then the check engine light came on. Does anyone have any ideas what might be wrong. I'm at work right now, so I thought I would write. Thank in advance if your able to help.
PS. I'm trying to buy the horn button that goes on the steering wheel, but can't seem to find it. Anyone know where I can purchase them. I already went to the junk yard but they don't want to sell it.

The computer has recognized a problem and is trying to tell you about it. Trying to erase the code doesn't do anything for fixing the problem. It just comes back. You need to have your codes read and report back here with the code numbers. If your near an AutoZone, they will read them for free but don't let them try to interpret anything or sell you any parts top fix the problem. They are just sales clerks and know nothing about diagnostics.

I may be wrong about this but I believe the code will only set if the computer detects the same problem in 2 consecutive trips, with the engine shut off between trips. I'm not sure if this is true for 95 and earlier models. If that is so, it would explain why the check engine light doesn't come on the 1st time you drive the car after resetting the computer.
