Trans fluid

1996 Dodge Caravan - I recently changed the tranmission fluid. I replaced it with Dexron/Mercon fluid. I believe I should have used ATF fluid. Is this a problem mixing these fluids? Should I change it again? Thank you.

Yes there can be a problem if you do not use the correct fluid.
Check the owners manual and see what it says to use. If you do not have one it might be written on the end of the dipstick. If necessary call the dealer.

If you have the wrong fluid in there just draining the pan will only get about 1/3 of the fluid out. You need to do this several times or have the system flushed. Transmissions aren't cheap and the wrong fluid can be fatal.

Dextron/Mercon and ATF are the same thing unless your referring to the ATF+4, I think they call it..

I would beg to differ, the 1996 Caravan/Voyager only uses ATF 3, no other, not even ATF 4, there is a TSB from 1999/2000 on this exact subject. You need to completly chang the fluid you have in the tranny.
