2000 chevy astro, whats this white stuff?

Every time I go to clean out my van there is some sort of white stuff in the right back corner of the van. I have dual air conditioning. So I am wondering if this is an air conditioning problem. Some of the stuff is hardened and yellow, and some it white and wet, it has the consistency of lotion. What could this be?

There's nothing back there that color. Are you talking about inside the van or outside?

Is this a conversion van?If so perhaps it's something they used during the conversion.I have never heard of or seen the issue you speak of.Can you take a pic and provide a link to it?I may be able to help then.

No, not a conversion van. I dont think fungus would be white or mold for that matter. It isnt some kind of grease is it? And are we sure it couldnt be coming from the air conditioning? Could it be an adhesive of some kind. I cant send a picture and really cant afford to take it anywhere. I could unscrew the thing that holds the carpet down and look under it. It is really annoying you know!

I'm not trying to insist it is fungus, I just want to point out that there are many white fungi
Just as there are white molds and white mildews
I used to work in a place where the basement warehouse would get water in the spring
If it didn't rain for a few weeks the standing water would recede, and the formerly white, squishy, fungus, would turn yellowish/tan and harden

Lithium grease and wheel bearing grease are also white
Lithium might be used on hinges or bushings-but in small amounts
Wheel bearing grease...well...just wheel bearings comes to mind

Have any kids been riding back there, possibly getting that stuff in the van?
