Auto tranny; tranny in reverse/ no power at backup lights; can the neutral safety switch be removed and disassembled as I assume the backup light switch contact's are dirty?
Expensive replacing the switch as boneyard considers donor tranny unsaleable without the neutral safety switch in place

Most likely not NSS.
Check the wiring harness at the left side trunk hinge. The wire tends to break where it exits the body harness and goes up the trunk hinge.
Its the red/black stripe wire, also look at the others they maybe soon to break also.

Thank you Larry! whu hu .... light's fixed. All 3 wires were sheared off where they left the bundle to go into the trunk lid .not sure what the green and white wires are for as I thought the backup lights were the only things not working.
Fyi; really appreciate the help ... the bundle wrap, at the point the wires leave to go to the trunk lid appeared intact until I twisted it and saw the slice and 3 broken wires...
I'd've not known anything was wrong and in fact had gone over the wiring once before trying to find the problem. Hate to think a mechanic aware of the wire problem might take advantage of a customer. Originally quoted about $350 for the switch to fix it + install labor.
Anyway, merry christmas .my ladies happy .been a good night )
