98 stratus 6 cyl.

it just dies as im driving , and will start back up, then happens again. had this problem before and it was the computer, could it be the same thing after a year.

It's possible, but there are plenty of other potential suspects, too. One possibility would be a clogged fuel filter or failing fuel pump. Replacing the fuel filter is a common preventive maintenance item, so if you can't remember the last time you had it replaced, if ever, you could start with that at a fairly low cost. Checking the fuel pump is a little more involved and will require test equipment to check the pressure. Ideally you would connect a test gauge that could be read while driving giving you the capability to see if the pressure drops off when the engine dies, but just checking it sitting still may give you a clue if the pressure reading is low.

Getting a check engine light at any time? If so, get the codes read before going any further.
