98 Jeep rad fan stays on... help!

I've got a 98 Jeep Cherokee that has the additional cooling fan for the rad.

Lately, when I turn on the A/C or defog (much more apparent in cold climate condition), the additional fan will spin up. Then, when I park and remove the key from the ignition, the fan stays on. It's stayed on for >2 hrs, and reached a point where I removed the fuse to stop the fan.

The temp gauge reads normal, so I can't understand why it stays on so long.

I've had the battery replaced recently, and also the coolant system recharged, so those are the only two things I can think of that might be tied-in to the problem.

Any ideas how to fix this would be much appreciated!

The cooling fan relay might be stuck closed. Try swapping it with another relay of the same, possibly the other fan's relay if its the same.

Thanks Jeff67,
