84 Buick LeSabre Transmission Problems

First off, forgive me, I'm not incredibly well versed in automotive repair. I have a 1984 Buick LeSabre with a 350 engine. It just recently started having transmission problems and I'd like some feedback on what it could be. It started with the car slipping when I started going from a stand still. This morning it was pretty cold out and the car would hardly move forward at all, but once I got it going I was fine. Now the car won't go into Reverse, and it's going forward in all gears (including Neutral) save for Park. Am I looking at a complete rebuild??? Please advise!

suspect a linkage problem causing the vehicle to go foward in all gears perhaps the linkage has came unhooked from the transmission and it is in drive.
if the transmission does slip sometimes and the fluid level and condition is ok it is in need of some repair such as a rebuild or replace.
