4L60e transmission/temperature gauge
I would like to install a electric transmission temperature gauge on my 4L60e transmission. I was planning on installing the sending unit in the high side pressure test port. This port is located on the driver side of the transmission above some linkage. The plug threads are the same as the sending unit threads but the sending unit is longer than the plug I took out. Does anyone know whats is inside that high pressure test port hole. Since the sending unit is longer then the plug will it hit anything inside the transmission? or will it just bottom out in to the wall? It does not seem to be a through hole. I guess I need to know what on the inside of that high pressure test port hole? Is there a 4L60e transmission expert out there somewhere?

I am not a mechanic of any kind, but here's what I would do. With engine/trans off and cold I would remove the plug and, using a bent piece of wire (so it wouldn't fall inside if I dropped it) , say copper house wire, probe around inside the hole to check for depth/obstructions.
Is there any way you can use a small inspection mirror to look inside?
