94 Dodge Dakota automatic Transmission Problem

I am looking at a 94 dodge dakota to purchase. It has a V6 and automatic transmission. However, it does not want to shift into 3rd or overdrive. It shifts into 1st and 2nd fine as well as reverse. It just doesn't want to go into 3rd. This occurs with the overdrive button on or off.

Is this a major problem or a simple fix? Is there a cable or vacuum hose that may be bad?

hdtvluver........go look

at my posts about "Trani still giving trouble" about my 95 escort I would hit the library and start doing some research on fifnding if the computer has any error codes stored.....you do NOT need to get a check engine light on to tell you the problems. Look into the Mitchells manuals at the library.........will probably tell you how to read codes by running a jumper somewhere in the diagnostic plug....yours is probably an OBD1 type!!
