1990 honda accord ex....

I have low on power sterring fluid. Can i use regular power steering fluid? Somebody told me that it has to be special "honda" fluid for $40 a pint? Wonder if this guy is full of BS?

Yes it does take special fluid, no you can't use regular fluid and yes, he is full of BS when it comes to the price. The price is comparable to regular fluid last I knew.

Hi
if your stuck you can used Automatic transmission fluid (ATF)
Dexron for GM not the ford type and it works fine same fluid but cheapper

If you use anything except Honda Fluid you may be sorry. Honda claims anything else will damage the system. Believe what you want!!!

Your "somebody" is full of feathers.

Honda power steering fluid is less tham $3.00 for 12 oz. as I remember. Something else might work for a while but why would anyone take the risk of a leak or costly repairs to save a few cents on fluid???

pgtek Your advice may be with good intentions but I suggest you re-think it.

you can buy Honda approved power steering fluid at any parts store for a lot less than at Honda. It will say Honda Power steering fluid on it.

I saw some of this stuff at the auto store also but it was as much or more than genuine Honda fluid. Even if you find some at 1/2 price why risk an inferior product to save $1.50
