97 mazda protege

Hello all! I have purchased a 97 mazda protege and am having some problems with my altenator belt. Everytime we get a new one put on, within 2 weeks, it starts squealing, and then breaks. Our mechanic has replaced altenator and battery, cleaned pulleys and it still keeps happening. Has anyone else ever had this problem? Anyone have any ideas what to do next? We can't afford to keep putting new belts on every 2 weeks! lol. Gotta find the problem and our mechanic just does not know what else to try. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sounds like a bearing is seizing up. Has to be some thing besides the alt that the belt rides on. Maybe idler pulley if equipped.
