No Dome Light When Doors Open

1999 Ford Windstar cargo, 3.8, 115K

Both rear and cab overhead lights don't click on when the doors are opened
The both have similer 3 postion switches (on the fixture) that appear fine (I took the rear one apart-seems to line up and contact and no corrosion)
I can turn both on manually by moving the switch to the third position
In the first and second position the lights stay off

I don't see any door switches that poke out of the door or jam that may indicate a shut or open door, except on the cargo side (sliding) door,

There is also a dash light that comes on if a door is open when the vehicle is on
This dash light has occasionally been on when all the doors were closed

Previous history and whether both dome lights stopped working right at the same time are unknown

What would keep both cabin and cargo dome light from working in the "Door" position?
There must be other switches somewhere...right?
Any help is appreciated

The switches are in the door latches.

The switches are in the door latches, spray all latches with some WD-40.

Don't know if this applies to your van, but on some Chrysler vans you can lock out the door switches by rotating the instrument panel dimmer to one end or the other where it will click thru a detent and turn the interior lights off. Turning the switch back cures the situation on these cars.

Oh Jeez I forgot about that
Thanks, I'm glad you caught me
I'll check that too
I think me and the WD can are warm enough to go back out there

Works Now

Hey thanks guys
This dimmer has 3 indents
Not sure what they are all for
It was on one of them, I rolled it to the middle, then WD'd the latches and worked them all good and at one point the domes started working!
Not sure if it was the knob or more WD, prolly both

Thanks Again! for the quick replies
