Question 98 Mazda 'Door Ajar' warning always on

My 1998 Mazda PU appears to have an electrical problem. Warning light on dash indicates ‘Door Ajar’ and interior lights stay on, this happens when it rains or any damp weather. I removed the light bulbs. There must be a switch in the door or body, since the old push button switch is gone, but I don’t know how to locate the thing. When I do find it is there a way to replace or fix it so the problem can go away?

The switch is inside the latch and is common for it to stick. Open the door and spray the latch especially the lower back (part closest to the outside edge) with WD-40.

Spray all doors and open and close the door while spraying till the light goes out.

What latch? Aside from the two hinges I don't see much else.

The door latch mechanism, the part that latches on the striker bolt.

Most of it is inside the door. you have to access it through the hole where the striker lands.
