Heater not blowing

The vehicle in question is a 1993 Lumina 3.1, the heater has hot air, but no speeds, before if you gave a little boot under the dash it would come on, now it doesn't. I figure the blower is probably gone, but my question is, how hard is this to change? Can I do this myself?
Also I have a 1990 Chev Silverado, with sort of the same problem, I have heat but only one speed on the switch, which is high, could this just be the switch?

On the Lumina check for power at the blower motor before condemning it.The truck sounds like it needs a blower motor resistor.
