heat problems, 88 olds delta 88
I recently purchased this olds to drive back/forth to work. Changed the thermostat but still not putting out much heat. Afraid it's the heater core. If so, how hard is it to change out myself?

If the engine is getting to nornal operating temp, then start with the easy first. Is the fan working? When you change the temp setting can you see or hear the doors in the duct open or close? Does the defrost work? Do you hear any vacuum leak sounds?
Changing the core is a task. Drain the coolant, disconnect the heater hoses, blow out any residual coolant from the core. Then basically pull out everything from the lower dash including cowling, sound insulator, heat ducts, heater core cover and finally the core itself. Also recemmended to disconnect the neg battery cable to avoid accidental shorts.
