All is not lost but you do need to get the diesel out of the system. This means draining the tank, flushing the fuel lines from tank to injectors, and cleaning or replacing the spark plugs and possibly the fuel filter. Others will be on board soon with further advise.

Depends a lot on the mix as well as other preset conditions (motor, state of tune, etc.). Diesel contains many more BTUs per pound than gasoline. Sometimes the motor can survive, sometimes it can bring a tear to your eye.

Pull the plugs first and see what kind of shape they're in.... if the ground electrodes show a lot of damage, all may not be lost, but lower your expectations. Purge the fuel system and drop in some fresh gas. See what happens.

If all else fails, you could try burning a 10 dollar bill as a sacrifice to the carburettor gods (jokin', jes' jokin').

its unlikely that any damage was done to a gas engine by dumping diesel in its tank it just needs the fuel drained fuel filter changed and plugs changed as they will be fouled.
