Timing Blet Tensioner

Does anyone know if there is a timing belt tensioner on a 2000 Mazda Protege ES 1.8 4 CYL and if there is, does it need to be replaced when the timing belt is replaced???

Thanks,

Al

Every timing belt has some sort of tensioner. Whether is should be replaced is a matter of opinion, especially if it is the first change of the belt. Some techs always change them and some never do. About the only time I would say change it automatically is if the mileage is over 150K, otherwise change it only if it has a problem.
