Toyota Distributor Signals

85 MR2 MK1 1.6L

Distributor on this car has 2 connectors, the book refers to these as sending out an N or Ne signal + & -, and sending out a G signal + & -. A fault in either will cause a 6 code on the ECU. The Haynes manual refers to these as RPM signals. I checked these for resistance (like the Haynes manual instructs) and found an open on the N or Ne side. The engine is idling at around 2300 rpm. Could this be the cause of my high idle? What else will this failure effect?

That pick-up is the cause of code 6. Has nothing to do with idle.

This engine is not computer controlled idle.

You said you had a code 11, the TPS is not seeing idle. Check this thread on how to adjust http://forum.doityourself.com/showthread.php?t=194307
