Question Explorer humming on front

My 96 Explorer has a hum on the drivers front it is 4x4. It gets louder and quieter as the speed changes. (quieter when slower). I have no ticks, clunks and no rattles when turning or straight. I'm thinking wheel bearings, can anyone agree with this or should I be looking at something else.
Thanks

Your probably right, Wheel bearings but I think they are sold in a hub assembly.

I have called around and they are sold as hubs!! Can I not just buy the bearings which are very much cheaper and replace them into my old hub? Or are they heavily pressed in? Like I'm talking $248 canadian for the complete hub and like $8.99 per bearing!!!
