Keyless Entry / Remote Starter

I am looking to install a remote starter / a keyless entry system in a 1997 Ford Taurus. Can this be a job for the average Do It Yourself person? Is there any difference in installation in the two systems?

If possible.. what brands would you all suggest? Thanks.

Any system like this should come with detailed instructions. You can get them as one, rather than 2 different systems. Check with your local electronics supplier, like Best Buy and the sort. They do the installs as well as sell the systems. I would talk to some of the guys that do the installs and ask them how difficult it is.You can buy cheap systems, or you can buy better systems, its all in how much you want to spend. Plus the system is only as good as the installation. Be sure you know what you are hooking it to. I have seen these type systems installed in newer vehicles and hooked up to stuff that it shouldnt have been hooked to and ended up causing alot of electrical gremlins. If you opt not to do the install yourself, be sure you know where and how its being done.
Hope this helps ya,
Billy
