Car Audio Question

I am installing a new radio and speaker boxes in a pickup truck that
had no real pre-existing sound system.

The stereo has your normal wire layout with (4) 50W speaker outputs:
front left/right and rear left/right.

Since the truck has a pretty small cab and I am only installing one
set of speakers (left and right), should I combine the left rear and
front wires together before hooking it up to the left speaker? Or
should I only use the rear speaker wires and not use the front ones?

thanks!

Use the rear speaker wires only. Cover the front wire terminals up with electrical tape. Turn the fader to rear speakers only. Can't say for sure but you might damage the stereo if you hooked the front and rear wires together. Doing that wouldn't be of any advantage anyway.

I agree w/Jeff. If you must install only one set of speakers, use the rears and do not cross the wires. I you want to be adventurous...you can try installing a set in the door panels for a set of front speakers :-) If you want some help let us know. Happy to return the favor for the yrs the group has helped me out!
