help please mr2

hi got a friend who is looking at an mr2 i think it is an 88 model it is a 20litre turbo the seller says they've had turbo replaced and had head gasket replaced but when the car is started and ran up to normal temp it dies (cuts out)this has happen twice.the car is very cheap and needs some cosmetic work but this problem sounds like an expensive repair..any help would very much appreciated thanks. alan

The car is probably already a money pit, so much that the seller didn't even want to get it fixed before selling it so in the long run it's most likely not going to be cheap to keep it running. To find out what is wrong, to start, you would have to check for fuel and spark when it's not running, check for codes stored in the computer and vacuum leaks.
