Shift will not shift from park with brake pressed!

My car, 97 Chev. Blazer, will not shift from park when brake is pressed. There is a clicking around the steering column but it is not connecting.
HELP! It's Saturday and I need my car.

Well your vehicle doesn't care what day of the week it is.Do you have a column shift or console shift?2 different diagnostic charts apply to your vehicle so we need to know that first.Just so you know I doubt it will be fixed today if you need parts because it's Saturday.Something you can try is to remove the fuse from the underhood fuse block called BTSI.It may release the shifter for you as a temporary measure.
