Plymouth linkage

My 1991 plymouth has a linkage problem,that prevents my car from starting.This happened when
it was put into 3rd gear, and drove.
Could this mean that the transmission is now dead?
It is an automatic, that I had no problem with before this happened.

Hi I'm guess you ment it was put into D1 not 3 if thats the case you have a shift cable problem, If your in inclimate weather like massachuetts,salt and snow they get a crapped up. or under the dash the cable is worn an that D1 just did it in .This has been my experince with a 92 Ply. Aclaim that I owned
