Fuel Economy

I have a 88' Dodge Dakota. It has the 3.9 v6 engine. My question is how many miles to the gallon should I get with optimum performance? It has 59000 original miles. I have changed the plugs, injectors, wires, fuel filter, cap, rotor, and air filter. Are these things just little gas guzzlers? I get about 12-13 mpg. This seems low to me for a truck with no-"real power". Also, ocasionally usually just after start-up, she wants to die at a stop sign,?

These things are geared like a tank. So much for fuel economy. Mine is anyway
