I'm back, 1992 ford tempo emergency brake prob

I visited here about a month or two ago about noise that my car was making and also inquired about the emergency brakes. Fortunately, all was needed for the noise was some greasing or something done to the caliper. My car's inspection is out and has been for a week now. My emergency brake won't pass. The mechanic looked at it and said the problem was with the handle itself. I have since learned these are hard to find but have located a few online. They are asking around 34 bucks for one. Is this about right or does it sound too high? Please get back to me. thanks yall.

what`s wrong with the handle, the push button or are the teeth striped on the gear below the boot?

Not trying to be smart, but if your safety equipment is not up to snuff for a once a year inspection, then why is the small price of the part you say is bad an issue here?
Have you checked the dealer? What is their price? Theres your comparisson. What exactly is the e-brake NOT doing?
