Racing at start-up
1996 Buick Century, V6, 60k miles
My mother-in-law's Buick starts-up at a very high idle (guessing 2000 rpm), and stays high, even after waiting for the car to fully warm up. This condition has been present for quite a while and several mechanics have not been able to correct this problem.
Pumping the accelerator or driving the car changes nothing, but if the car is shut off and immediately restarted, it idles and drives normally.
Any suggestions?
