Question 1990 Ford Escort Hatchback

I recently purchased this car and had no problems with it until I drove it to work yesterday. I drove to work with no problems, but when I went to start it at lunch to run some errands, it wouldn't start. Upon further inspection, I found out that the fuel is not getting to the engine. We rules out freezing as the car would start when putting gas in the motor manually, So we have it narrowed down to one of three options...The fuel Filter, the fuel pump, or an in-line fuse. so my questions are as follows...

does anyone know where the fuel pump is located on this car as I can't see it anywhere. and also where could I find the in-line fuse?

Thanks in advance.

Look in the right rear of the engine compartment, below the level of the intake, for the fuel filter. The fuel pump is located in the fuel tank. There is a fuel pump inertia switch in the trunk on the left side, possibly behind the panel there. If this switch has gone bad then you wont get power to the fuel pump. Is it commonly called a fuel shut off switch. The relay for the fuel pump is located under the dash on the left hand side. There is also a fusible link that provides power to the fuel pump circuit on this vehicle. So check there before you start replacing parts. The fusible links should be around the battery and the wiring harness under the hood. The color ofthe fusible link wire is brown.
Hope this is helpful to ya,
Billy
