AC /blower resistor
On my 97 Grand Prix GT the AC blower fan only comes on in the 5 setting.
I replaced my blower resistor and still the fan only works on setting 5. Any suggestions on what I should do next? Also, My mechanic said the AC compressor will not come on if the system is low on refrigerant. is there any truth to this.

True, if the refrig is low the compressor will not run.
As to the blower, if you have a test light or volt meter, check the power from the connector to the resistor pack with the speeds set at different levels. If only one wire shows power, the trouble could be the blower speed switch.
It's also possible, but not likely, that the new resistor pack is bad.
