Question EGR Valve Location

Hi, I have a 96 Mercury Salbe LS and recently the service engine light came on. I took it to Auto Zone and had them hook it up to the computer. It came back saying that the EGR valve or sensor were bad. I would like to do the repair myself but need to know where the valve and senor are located on my car. Thanks

As per autozone.com:
"On your 1996 MERCURY SABLE, the EGR VALVE is:

UNDER HOOD, CENTER, UPPER ENGINE AREA, MOUNTED ON
REAR DRIVER SIDE OF ENGINE"

But you really ought to post the actual code #s here before you buy any parts

the egr valve is usually not the cause of the code and rarely fail on this model however the dpfe sensor and blocked passages on certain engines are a common problem if you posted the engine size and code number you may get more replies.

The vacuum hoses in the egr system are also known to fail; if they're bad just don't buy them from a dealer. Standard vacuum hose works fine at a fraction the cost of the oem Ford parts.

Like bejay said we just don't replace EGR VALVES. Check for EGR ports that might be blocked,or DPFE SENSOR. You know AUTOZONE is ONE of my BEST CUSTOMER'S with the EXCEPTION of the_tow_guy. What's wrong with buying hoses at the DEALER. One thing for sure is they will fit! Not like the TOYOTA CV AXLE THAT SOMEONE HAD TO GRIND ON! Was that you the_tow_guy?????????????? You need to watch what you say!
