89 t-bird dist Q

My son's 89 t-bird (3,8 v6, auto) has a distributor with one lead to the harness and the harness has two leads for the distributor. It looks like someone unhooked the timing advance plug and never hooked it back up. Only there's nowhere to put it. Is there a chance someone put the wrong distributor in the car?

I believe your refering to the "spout" connector. Their is a jumper connector that you remove to set the base timing.

Sounds like some one removed it and never put it back after seting the timing.

If you can't find one you can make a jumper with the correct terminals and a piece of wire.

Will the timing act right if it is not connected to the dist?

No the computer will not control timing with it disconnected

Thank you Toyotaman. I got the jumper connector for the spout wire at a salvage yard.
