front seal in transmission leaking

front seal in transmission leaking

I have a 77 Ltd and I just replaced the front seal in the transmission because it was leaking and now about 100 miles later it is back leaking. does anyone have any clue as to why this is leaking again??????

If it wasn't damaged during installation the bushing in the pump is probably worn.

is it fixable??

is it fixable and if so how hard and do you know if the pump can be replaced without rebuilding the transmission???

Yes you can remove and install a new bushing without overhauling entire trans.

Does require knowledge and understanding of trans rebuilding for proper procedures.

Is this trans a "FMX"?? If it is, they had a bad habit of corroding between the trans body (cast iron) & the pump ( aluminum) If not, check the welds on the torque converter & also the bolts that hold the pump to the trans body. A florescent dye may help pinpoint the leak as well Good Luck (R)
