Change Oil Message

I have a 2000 Chevy Suburban, 5.3L V-8 Vortec engine. Last week the console display showed a "Change Oil" message that stayed on. I changed the oil the next day.

However, now the "change oil" message displays and remains on the console for about 15-20 seconds after starting the engine each time. It did not do this prior to the initial "change oil" message.

Question: is there something that I need to reset or clear now that I've changed the oil?

Thanks!

Read the owners manual. I believe it says to turn the key on but don't start the engine then push the accelerator pedal to the floor 3-5 times quickly.

Thanks Car Nut! I dug around and found my owner's manual. You were right on. Key in Run position, press accelerator 3 times within 5 seconds. Message will flash for about 5 seconds then stop to show Oil system is reset.

Thanks again.
