tranny 98 continental

my dad had the automatic tranny replaced on a 98 continental at 60k because when driving one day it just gave out, would press on the accelerator and no responce, it had no response on any gear. at about 70k it started making a squeel noise at about 40 mph, it shifts there, but i think it might be the torque converter. it does not really make the noise when you accelerate gently. is this something to worry about?

thanks, Bill

Any abnormal noise is something to be concerned about. Thats why its there, to give you a warning that something much worse is about to happen. Did he have the transmision rebuilt or replaced with a new or used unit? This is going to play into what replies you get next. If it is making a noise and you dont know what it is, then you really should get it checked out.
Hope this is helpful to ya,
Billy
