SOS My 1994 Merccury Sable Died at Restaurant
Hello Everyone!
I went to lunch today with fiancee's parents. My fiancee's 1994 Mercury Sable 3.8 V6 Fuel Injected wouldn't start when we came out of the restaurant. This happened once this winter. The car wouldn't start and when you did turn the key on to start the car, it appeared that almost every single light on the dash was lit up, emergency lights, all the idiot lites. And not a sound of the starter, not even a click. Anyhow, I tried to jump it, nothing, still the same. It appeared that the battery had plenty of power, but I went and bought a new battery and put it in to see if it would help. Tried to start it, same thing. I went to the house, sat for an hour, went back out and turned the key and it started and all the idiot lites were not on, just the few standard ones when you put the key on.
Could this possibly be the ignition module that is causing this?
I even tried moving the gear shift through the gears to see if maybe a switch isn't making or something.
Please help, I need to move the car out of the lot before noon tomorrow.
Thanks!
Arn C.

The most common problem with these is the connector on the starter soloniod getting corroded. Henery Ford has a new pigtail for this. It's the small push-on wire at the starter.Take your VIN to a dealer & they may show you a service message for this concern

Hello !
Thanks for your fast responses for a fix for my fiancee's sable!
We went to check it out this morning and first thing my fiance did was to open the car with her key instead of using the remote opener. She then put the key in the ignition and , it started right up!
So, it could be something to do with the security. Using the key to enter the car instead of the remote to unlock car. But, I believe the time this happened once before, it was really wet out, raining or something as this time it was raining a lot. Maybe something is getting wet, maybe from the moisture in the air. Maybe it is that contact on the starter?
I will still clean the contacts to the starter and hope it doesn't happen again. Thanks once again and if any of this helps in determing the end result in repairing the problem, please let me know!
Peace!

Cleaning the small contact on the starter is a temporary fix. If it is the starter signal wire, the reason Henry Ford issued the new one is because the different metals are'nt happy living together. Try to find a dealer that will let you see the T.S.B. The new connector has a different coating on it to prevent this from spoiling your evening again!!
