Tire Wear

1988 Camaro, 305 TBI, Vin "E"

Is it true that the tires in the front wear faster than in the back? I have to replace the front ones soon. I have 50% tread in the rear. If I do buy two new tires, shouldn,t I put them in the front? (assuming that the front wears faster)

Thank you

Maitai

The front tires wear faster on a front wheel drive car because they pull the car and do most of the stopping.

You have a rear wheel drive car. If you drive normally the front & rear tires should wear about the same.

It is personal preference where you put the new tires. Many people put them on the front of a rear wheel drive car. The thinking is if you have a tire problem it would be better to have it on the rear and still be able to steer the car.
